I chose this quotes today as my title because when you find some thing you love doing, you don't consider it work, but instead you consider it fun to be helping.
Today was the most amazing, energetic, hard-working day that I have ever had. In the morning, half of our group went to the Russian market and half went straight to the orphanage, but the only main reason that we split up was because 11 people in the market at once is way to many people to keep track of. I was in the group that went straight to the orphanage.
When we arrived, there weren't as many children there as the first day. This was because most of them were either at school or at the slums. I will talk more about them later. As on Thursday, we played many games, and also took part in some very intense volleyball games. In the afternoon,... we got to work. Half of our amazing group picked up trash, and the other half were working in the lice station that we put up. I was on trash duty. All of us got to work right away. Keavy, Jack, Nicole, Creek, and I put on our gloves and got out our trash bags, that we got from the market, and worked on cleaning up trash for a predicted long time. Another one of our main projects was to extend the roof by where all of the children sleep. This is one of our main projects because when it rains, the children have to basically all sleep on one another to prevent from getting soaked. This was done by the older boys at the orphanage because it's way to dangerous for us to be on the roof. They worked extremely hard at it for a good portion of the day and were almost completely finished. It's truly amazing what you can get done when you set your mind to something.
After that, a few of us went to the slums. The "slums"as we call it, is a very small village of pure sadness.
It's about a 3 minute walk from the orphanage and all you see the entire time are shacks and mountains of trash as big as Everest. It's extremely sad. We brought 3 Ziploc bags full of medical supplies, and gave them to the families that need them most.
Lastly, we played some more at the orphanage and went home.
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
